Ferntree Gully sits at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges and forms part of the Dandenong Ranges National Park. With an abundance of Native Eucalypts, Tree Ferns and Wildlife, FTG is a nature lovers paradise.

With too many places of interest to name here, I’ll recommend a couple of my very favorite places.

The Tim Neville Arboretum, on the Cnr Dorset Rd & Frances Cres, Ferntree Gully, has something of interest for people of all ages. The Arboretum is a botanical garden featuring lakes, an amphitheatre, secret garden, picnic areas and art installations. It also has a 1000 square metre playground, which is popular with kids of all ages. BBQ, toilet facilities and sheltered picnic areas are also available.

A must do, particularly in Autumn is the Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd and the William Ricketts Sanctuary. Slowly wind your way
through Sassafras and Olinda, while trying to resist the temptation to stop and pick up some freshly roasted chestnuts, coffee or Devonshire Tea and you’ll find the sanctuary. A tranquil native setting with meandering pathways hide an abundance of magical sculptures that have to be seen to be believed. Truly breathtaking and well worth the drive.
